Hello! We are Third Graders at Parkview Elementary School!
We are working on a project that we think you will be interested in!
The project is called the UNLESS contest. Our teachers, Mrs. Casazza, Ms. Baglivo, and Mrs. Shevlin are guiding us.
The following are our goals for the project:
1. Choose a challenge to work on, and focus animal to be the face of the campaign
2. Conduct a student-lead campaign-based project that gets your community involved
3. Submit quantitative and qualitative results from your challenge at the end of the contest
We have chosen the Panamanian Golden Frog as our challenge animal, and water conservation as our challenge. We have spent weeks researching the Panamanian Golden Frog, and have learned many things. We created a slideshow and posters to tell our school about them. We also went on a winter field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo! We got to see the Panamanian Golden Frogs, and hear about some ways the zoo is trying to help this endangered species!
Our class is planning to help our school by purchasing refillable water bottle stations for our school. We think that asking students and staff to use refillable bottles, will help cut down on plastic bottles littering our community and our world. We would like to involve our whole community in our efforts. Our idea is to purchase water bottles with our school/community names on them to sell to our students, staff and community members. The profits from the project will go towards the purchase of the water stations to be installed in our school.
